Do not turn a reference body into a badge
AAFCO does not approve, certify or endorse pet food. FEDIAF publishes industry guidance; it is not a product certification body. Claims such as AAFCO approved or FEDIAF certified should not appear on the website or pack.
FDA facility registration or an import process is not FDA product approval. Certificates and registrations must be reviewed with the legal entity, site, scope, number and validity period.
Disease and body-function language is high risk
In the United States, statements that a product treats, prevents or mitigates disease, or changes body structure or function outside normal nutrition, may create animal-drug issues. Website copy, social posts and sales material can matter alongside the package.
EU feed presentation and advertising claims must be objective, verifiable, understandable and supported when the product is placed on the market. Ordinary feed cannot claim to prevent, treat or cure disease.
Lock evidence-heavy words until the SKU file is ready
Natural, organic, human-grade, hypoallergenic, allergen-free, high protein, grain-free, dental, clinically proven, complete and balanced and functional-benefit language can carry specific definitions or substantiation needs.
- Exact claim wording and target market
- Responsible entity and production site
- Formula and artwork revision
- Analytical, study or certification evidence
- Reviewer, decision and approval date
Ask for the document behind the sentence
A trustworthy project file connects every important statement to the correct SKU, market, evidence source and approved version. If the only proof is a logo copied onto a sales page, the claim is not ready.
